Introduction
Container Detention can be used by Shipping Line and Shipping Agents to update MT return Location, Import Delivery Validity date, and MT Return dates.
Container Detention
Search
Navigate to the Container Inquiry from the top navigation bar(Track → SHIPMENT → Container Inquiry).
2. Container Inquiry screen will load where Container Number(s) or Bill of Lading can be used for Search.
Users can search for containers using:
a. Container Number(Up to 100 Container numbers can be provided separated by “,” (or) User can directly copy-paste from excel as well)
b. BOL - Bill of Lading
3. To search with Container Number, enter the Container Number(s) in the respective field and click on the search option
4. Click on the Reset icon to clear the previous search criteria and search results
Update Container Detention
1. Update can be performed for single or multiple containers
a. To Update a single container - Click on the three dots to select the Update Detention option.
b. To perform bulk updates - Click on the Select All check box, UPDATE DETENTION button will appear at the bottom of the screen.
The UPDATE DETENTION button will be enabled/disabled based on the user permissions and if container belong to Shipping line.
2. The below pop-up is displayed once the UPDATE DETENTION option is selected.
Field Name | Description |

MT Return Location | Click the drop-down icon, and select the desired location. |
Import Delivery Days | Enter the Import Delivery Days. |
Import Delivery Validity Date | The date in this field is auto populated calculating the number of days for delivery. Note: The date in this field reflects depending on the delivery days entered in Import Delivery Days field. For example: Consider the user is willing to update the container detention on 8th November, 2022, and enters 2 days in the Import Delivery Days field, then the Import Delivery Validity Date field is auto populated with the date “10/11/2022”. |
MT Return Days | Enter the MT Return Days. |
MT Return Date | The date in this field is auto populated calculating the number of days to return. Note: The date in this field reflects depending on the return days entered in MT Return Days field. For example: Consider the user is willing to update the container detention on 8th November, 2022, and enters 7 days in the MT Return Days field, then the MT Return Date field is auto populated with the date “15/11/2022”. |
MT Return location, import delivery days , import delivery validity date, MT Return days and MT Return date options are displayed and enabled based on User privileges, Container Category and Status

3. To update the detention, click UPDATE DETENTION.
4. Success message is displayed and updated information is saved.
